Winter Wakeboarding in Russia
A ten-page photoproject for the legendary magazine “Russian Reporter”
Nikita Martyanov achieved his first great successes at the age of 14. Then he won major international competitions in London. Ten years later, the athlete won the World Championships in the discipline that was not the most popular in Russia. He is a wakeboarder. On a special board pulled by a boat, Nikita performs various tricks, catching waves and overcoming trampolines. All summer Nikita rides on a lake near the house and drives a boat into the garage with only the first snow. And in the remaining time he takes photos and shoots videos.
Nikita is the only wakeboarder in Russian history who managed to climb the podium of the World Cup. And just the second European who managed to do this. Winter wakeboarding through the channels of St. Petersburg performed by Nikita Martyanov collects hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube. With his own hands, the athlete built a figure that has no analogues, on which you can perform more than 40 wake tricks
Hasselblad Nikita bought a medium format camera from a collector - a new, unopened, in a box. The athlete controls the entire shooting process and for this he equipped his own photo lab at home. Even Nikita makes frames for photographs
